Have You Changed Your Facebook Page Layout Yet?
I love the flexibility of the new Facebook Page design. The templates make it easy to decide what is important. Most people will look at your page if they are interested in your business and services, not just your posts. If they have already “liked” your page then they will simply see your posts in their newsfeed, so maximising your Facebook page layout is crucial now that we have the power to showcase the things that matter.
Why change your Facebook Page layout?
I can hear you thinking “surely our status updates are the most important thing on a page?” — wrong!
If a visitor has already “liked” and then engaged with your Facebook page then they will already see your posts in their newsfeed, so you are constantly receiving exposure to your current audience. If they are really keen then they will sign up for your page notifications.
Most people will look at your page if they are interested in your business and services, not just your posts. Your page layout should ideally be designed for new visitors, or those returning visitors who are looking to make contact with you. Maximising your Facebook page layout is crucial now that we have the power to showcase the things that matter.
So how do you make these changes?
Step 1 — Click on settings
Step 2 — Edit page
Step 3 — Edit the current template
Step 4 — Select your template, and click “view details”
There are seven templates to choose from:
- Standard (not recommended)
- Professional Services — for anyone who has already added their key services to the page. If you are a B2B provider, then this template is probably for you.
- Shopping — this template is designed to showcase your shop and online bookings.
- Venues — Designed so you can highlight useful info like your venue’s hours, location and upcoming events.
- Gaming — Designed to showcase Games, including a tab for Groups where people can find other fans. (If you run a very active group then this template may be right up your street)
- Politicians — Designed to help politicians reach their supporters and communicate their message. I can’t imagine that many of my audience will be interested in this tab, but you never know!
- Restaurants & Cafes — Designed to highlight photos and important info about your menu, hours and location.
Step 5 — Click “apply the template”
Step 6 — Turn off the default tab
Once you click “apply” then the template has been installed, but the editing has not quite finished yet. Take your time and consider what you would consider the most important tabs for your page. You can click on a tab and then drag them into the appropriate order. For example, we do not really want to highlight a shop on the green umbrella page, therefore we have turned this function off.
Many business owners will not notice this new layout, so get ahead of your competition and start the changes asap. Maximise your opportunities of new visitors by showcasing your products, services or shop on your Facebook page.
